SPEND TWO MONTHS OF YOUR LIFE

IN THE WOODS, HUNDREDS KM FROM CITIES

WITH TWENTY OTHER INDIE DEVS

BUILDING THE ONE GAME OF YOUR DREAMS

Build your Pitch

Send us your pitch, describe your idea and apply as an individual or as a team (up to three people strong). If you're one of the selected teams, you will get your accommodation at Stugan for free. The application process includes sending us your game pitch as a video, combined with a summary of you/your team, and what you're trying to achieve in Stugan. We accept all platforms and game types. We also accept applicants from all over the world, and we'll try to create a mixed crew. This means we'll aim for a multicultural diverse group. The first Stugan event happened in summer 2015.

BUILD YOUR GAME

During your eight weeks in the cabin, you will work on your game with the aim to reach your goal, as described in your pitch. Your goal can be a demo, a Kickstarter build or why not a game ready for release - it's up to you.

You will work and live in the cabin, which also have a dining area as well as bedrooms and leisure areas. Visitors from the game industry will frequently visit to inspire and get inspired. We aim to get some of the most influential game developers in Scandinavia, and from the rest of the world, to visit Stugan.

Build your audience

During your stay, you'll get the chance to build your fanbase early. Every week we'll publish videos from Stugan, so fans from all over the world can follow your development.

As your stay comes to an end, the season finale will include viewers voting for the best game. The winner will not only receive a fine prize but more importantly: a great deal of PR, as the Winner of Stugan 2015!

Build your network

We aim to gather the most creative and inspiring teams out there, with ideas that could revolutionise gaming. These will be your room- and workmates for two months. And hopefully the inspiration from these individuals will help boost your own project and your chance of finding interesting collaborations for future game projects.

The Cabin

STUGAN means "the cabin" in Swedish, but STUGAN was also the first commercial game ever created in the country. In 1977, brothers Kimmo and Viggo Eriksson created a text adventure on the mainframe Oden, but it wasn't until 1986 the game was released, and sold for 95 SEK on mail order. In the 30 years that has passed since, the games industry growth has been phenomenal, in Sweden, and around the world. To incentivise even more young talent to get into this industry and reach a world audience with their creations, we've initiated a yearly summer camp called STUGAN, located between Falun and Borlänge, in the municipality of Dalarna. This will be your place to work, play and live during two months. The cabin is actually quite large, and holds room for a large work space, as well as bedrooms for 23 people. Of course there's also a dining area, and for teams who like a late night swim, there's also access to a lake.
